Solingen-based meterex, has long been known for its core competence in measuring instruments, offering one of the widest ranges of quality tested folding rules and measuring tapes on the European market. Innovations are also important to practical items. This is shown by the new developments - as creative as they are useful - which meterex is constantly coming up with.
For almost 100 years, meterex has been enhancing measuring tapes, folding rules, spirit levels and rulers. As one of the leading measuring instrument companies in the European advertising market their products stand for quality, high durability and lasting advertising effectiveness.
Solingen is situated not far from Düsseldorf in Germany. The meterex Karl Kuntze business was established there almost hundred years ago, to be exact in 1920. The business has already been in the family for three generations and the current manager Oliver Kuntze hopes that his sons will also be interested in taking over the business.
Nowadays it employs 25 people. It intentionally remained a small business so that high quality can be supplied in small runs of 100 to 10,000 items. Even a small quantity of measuring tapes can already be printed with matching corporate colors. Although the business wants to continue to grow, mass production is not the road ahead for meterex.
Meterex offers one of the widest ranges of folding rules and measuring tapes on the European market. Thanks to its own in-house plastic injection molding, production, pre-press, screen and pad printing departments, meterex is able to respond to customers' every wish in the shortest possible time.
For twelve years it has also been possible to print multi-color photos on the measuring instruments by means of digital imprint. In this respect meterex is leading Europe.
Partly because meterex is a family business with a long history and loyal clientele, quality is of paramount importance.
CEO Oliver Kuntze: “The products focus on quality and serve the upper-middle to premium classes. Fair conditions and loyalty to the wholesale trade ensure long-term success for all market partners.”
Specialism is another focal point of the business so that the wealth of knowledge acquired is incorporated into high-quality and innovative products.
One of the new products of meterex is the craftmeter® for which the company won the golden Promofritz Award for the Best Advertising Gift of The Year in Switzerland. It is a top quality folding ruler in beech wood, a wood that only grows in Europe. The sections of the folding rule have a 90 degree locking system for right angles and an angle finder to measure the slope of roofs or stairs. At one end of the folds it has an integrated neodym magnet with a holding force of 500 grams! That means you can retrieve screws, nails, keys and so on from behind cupboards, radiators et cetera.
The products of meterex have won many different awards throughout the years. To name a few: in 1972 the company was awarded the first design prize for the “Imperial measuring tape”. Almost unchanged, this product is still in production today. It has become a bestseller and a classic. In 2007 it received the first Promotional Gifts Award in Germany. In 2011 the Promotional Gift Award in the innovative products category. In 2012 and in 2015 they received the PromoFritz in Gold for the advertising article of the year in Switzerland.
And there were many other awards for this German family business, because meterex stands for high expertise and top-quality measuring products.
